The Ram 1500 continues to be the most critically acclaimed full-size pickup on the market because it is impressively capable and highly customizable but also because it delivers ride comfort that is unparalleled in this segment. When it comes to Melloy Ram custom orders of the Ram 1500, your choices start with the trim level, and there are seven options. The Tradesman is a traditional work truck. The Big Horn is similar but configured with the non-fleet customer in mind. The Rebel is an off-road model. The Laramie is a well-equipped pickup. The Longhorn is a luxury model. The Limited adds high-end exclusives, and the TRX is a performance-oriented off-road model.
Both the crew cab and extended cab have four doors, but the crew cab has four full-size doors whereas the rear doors on the extended cab are smaller. The extended cab is paired with a bed that measures 6 feet 4 inches, and the crew cab gives you the choice of that bed or a smaller one that measures 5 feet 7 inches. There are many ways to personalize the exterior, including various wheel designs and finishes, bedliners, tonneau covers, mudguards, running boards and appearance packages.
Another core choice you’ll need to make when you custom order a 2023 Ram 1500 is the cab style. You have the choice of either an extended cab or crew cab. Both can seat either five or six depending on whether you opt for a front bench or front bucket seats, but the crew cab affords more second-row legroom. The Tradesman has vinyl flooring and seating. Cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a 60/40-split folding rear seat become standard with the Big Horn. The Laramie adds leather upholstery and front seats that are power adjustable, heated and cooled. The Longhorn has premium leather seating, and the Limited includes wireless charging and the largest touch screen.
Trailer sway damping is standard equipment. Class IV trailering equipment is standard with the Rebel and up and otherwise available. Various other trailering setups are available as an option as well. With most trim levels, rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is an optional. The exceptions are the Tradesman HFE, which is a fuel-economy-oriented model only available with rear-wheel drive, and the Rebel and TRX, which are off-road focused.
The standard engine is a 305-horsepower V6 with eTorque, which is a mild hybrid system. Most trim levels give you the option of a 395-hp V8 that you can configure either with or without eTorque. You also have the option of a turbo-diesel engine when you custom order a 2023 Ram 1500, and the TRX features a 702-hp supercharged V8 that is exclusive to it.
All Melloy Ram custom orders of the 2023 Ram 1500 feature a touch-screen-based infotainment system. The Tradesman and Big Horn have a 5-inch screen. An 8.4-inch screen is available and becomes standard with the Laramie. A 12-inch screen is available and standard with the top trim level. Driver-assistance technologies are available, and some do become standard as you move up the trim levels, such as automatic emergency braking with the Laramie.
