2020 Dodge Durango Trim Level Comparison – El Paso TX
There weren’t a lot of changes on the 2020 edition of the Dodge Durango, which by now is in its third generation of production. Its manufacturer, Fiat Chrysler, has designed this vehicle in a way that appeals to people looking for an SUV with lots of power and space. Chrysler presents the 2020 Dodge Durango in several trim levels to appeal to a wide range of customer tastes and preferences.
SXT Trim – 2020 Dodge Durango
At the SXT trim level, the 2020 Durango is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 called the Pentastar, which produces 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. That’s more than enough output to push it along. The Pentastar is tagged with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which provides smooth operation due to the relatively small spaces between the gears. Rear-wheel drive is standard; with the engine in the front and engine torque going to the rear wheels, the Durango has a front-to-back weight distribution balance that sharpens handling. With passenger space measured at 134 cubic feet, the 2020 Durango has a lot of interior space. Two cloth-trimmed rows seat up to five people. For entertainment, the vehicle relies on the 7-inch Uconnect infotainment touchscreen interface, which is easy to use because the buttons are huge.
Other infotainment components include a six-speaker stereo system, two USB ports for playing media from your mobile devices, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. Occupants of both rows of seats have access to climate controls for tweaking their heating or cooling preferences. For restraint and cushioning when there’s a crash, the 2020 Durango provides two frontal impact airbags, two front seat-mounted side impact airbags, and two roof-mounted side curtain airbags. Other standard safety features include an accident response system, trailer sway damping, electronic vehicle stability and traction control systems, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, a rearview camera, hill start assist, and a theft-deterrent system that combines proximity keyless entry with engine immobilization.
GT Trim – Durango near El Paso
The GT trim level is a step up from the base-level SXT. With the GT, you can fold down the rear seats to expand cargo space, and a third row of seats is standard to expand maximum occupancy to seven. Other upgrades include auto-dimming ability, a garage-door opener, a trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio, and rear parking sensors to boost the rearview camera’s functionality.
Citadel Trim – Dodge Durango near El Paso TX
The real leap from the SXT, though, is the Citadel. Although a pair of captain’s chairs replace the bench-style seat in the second row to reduce maximum occupancy to six people, the Citadel comes with 8-way power on the front passenger seat and heating on the first- and second-row seats. Entertainment is boosted with a nine-speaker Alpine stereo system and 8.4-inch touchscreen navigation. Also provided are a power sunroof and front parking sensors (which join the rear parking ones and the rearview camera).
R/T Trim – Dodge Durango
It is at the R/T trim level where Fiat Chrysler replaces the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8, which generates 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque for improved acceleration ability. Also debuting at this level are tighter steering and a rear load-leveling suspension for emphasizing a more exciting driving feel.
Other Trim Choices – Dodge Durango
If you want some extra features on the lower-level SXT or GT features without having to go with a more expensive model, go with a “Plus” version. The SXT Plus comes with 8-way power adjustability on the driver’s seat, and the GT Plus comes with remote start, leather-and-suede upholstery, and a power liftgate.
The Citadel also has a variant of its own. Fiat Chrysler names it the Citadel Anodized Platinum, which gets its name from the exterior chrome accents. These accents aesthetically enhance parts of the vehicles that include the wheels, badging, grille, and door handles. In addition, there’s a hand-wrapped instrument panel with silver accent stitching contrasting with the Anodized Platinum’s Nappa leather seats.
The SRT trim is the top-level trim available on the 2020 Durango. It is named after its supercharged 6.4-liter HEMI V8, which produces 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The SRT engine is by far the strongest one in the Durango’s production history. Also unique to the SRT are Nappa leather-and-suede upholstery, front-seat cooling, Brembo performance brakes, an adaptive damping suspension, and standard all-wheel drive for ultimate traction performance.
