The team at Melloy Ram is thrilled to announce that we now have the 2023 Ram 3500 available to test-drive, purchase and lease. The Ram HD series is critically acclaimed, and Car and Driver has once again selected it as its Editors’ Choice for the segment. There are many ways to personalize the Ram 3500. Ram has added even more options for this model year, and your choices begin with five core trim levels, which are the Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Limited Longhorn and Limited. Another popular option in this segment is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD, and in this article, we’ll compare the 2023 Ram 3500 vs 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD and see how they measure up. The Silverado 3500 HD is available in five trim levels as well: WT, LT, Custom, LTZ and High Country.
The 2023 Ram 3500 and 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD are both full-size HD pickup trucks. Ram offers three cab configurations: a two-door regular cab, a four-door crew cab and an even larger version of the crew cab called the Mega Cab. Chevrolet offers a four-door double cab with half-size rear doors and a four-door crew cab. Ram offers two bed lengths: 6 feet 4 inches and 8 feet. The regular cab comes with the shorter bed. The crew cab gives you the choice of bed, and the Mega Cab comes with the shorter bed. Chevrolet offers similar bed lengths. You have the choice of bed with the double bed, and the crew cab is paired exclusively with the standard bed.
Both automakers provide you a wide range of options to configure your cabin as a work truck or the ultimate mobile office or somewhere in between. The deciding factor for many customers will be passenger space. The regular cabs seat up to three. The extended cabs seat six if you opt for a front bench or five if you choose front bucket seats. The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD provides the most front legroom in the class, but the 2023 Ram 3500 accommodates almost all drivers comfortably at about 41 inches. The Chevrolet crew cab and Ford Mega Cab are comparable as they both provide more than 43 inches of second-row legroom. The Chevrolet double, however, has 5 inches less rear legroom than the Ram, and it also has half-size rear doors as opposes to the full-size doors on the Ram.
When comparing the 2023 Ram 3500 vs 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD, customers want to know how much these vehicles can tow and haul, and the answer is quite a lot. The Ram HD is among best in class offering more than 37,000 pounds of maximum towing capacity and more than 7,600 pounds of maximum payload capacity, but the Chevrolet isn’t far beyond at 36,000 pounds of maximum towing capacity and more than 6,600 pounds of maximum payload capacity.
The base infotainment package for the Ram 3500 at Melloy Ram includes a 5-inch touch screen and a rearview camera. An 8.4-inch touch screen with navigation and Apple and Android integration is optional and becomes standard with the Laramie. A 12-inch touch screen is also optional and becomes standard with the Limited. The base package for the Chevrolet includes a 7-inch touch screen with Apple and Android integration and a rearview camera system. An 8-inch touch screen becomes standard with the LT trim level. A larger touch screen is not current available but expected for next model year.
